The project was designed to house students in the comfort and convenience of a state-of-the-art dormitory wrapped in a structure consistent with campus architecture and reminiscent of the private estates in the surrounding community of Washington, CT.  The building includes faculty apartments in a style and configuration that allows for the presence of adult leadership balanced with privacy and independent living arrangements for both faculty and students.

Fortunato Construction was initially was retained by The Gunnery in 1999 for the construction of a development office and the historic reconstruction of the field house.  In the following years, the success of those projects led to the construction of a new dining hall, maintenance building, classroom facilties, an art studio, dormitory renovations, campus infrastructure (water and wastewater treatment) and an ongoing relationship that most recently included the Teddy House Dormitory.

The Gunnery is a private college prep school located in pristine wooded hills of Washington CT.  Founded in 1850, it is a coeducational college preparatory boarding and day school for 300 students in grades nine through twelve.
