As a Trustee Emeritus, past Chairman of the Buildings and Grounds Committee, and current design management consultant to the Gunnery, I have had the opportunity to work with the Fortunato Construction Group on many projects. They served as the principal construction managers on a major multi-year and multi-million dollar development effort that transformed our campus.
Schools like the Gunnery are often faced with complex design and construction problems that challenge both institutional budgets and operational logistics. Creative comprehensive management at both the pre-design and construction level was essential for project success.
In my experience The Fortunato Construction Group demonstrated loyalty to the client and a workmanlike and professional attitude toward the owner-designer–subcontractor team. This balance allowed the school to achieve significant quality, flexibility, and cost control on each project. In a tight construction market with difficult site and timetable limitations, the Fortunato team completed their projects with no operational disruption to the school.
